Firstly let me introduce myself for those who do not know who I am. My name is Hitesh Kanani, nephew of Narendrabhai and Sarlaben Kanani. I moved to Toronto from the UK in October of 2008 and was approached to take the Presidency of our community in March of 2010 and it is huge honour to take this position from my predecessor, Beju Lakhani. Beju has done a fantastic job in moving the community forward and I only hope that I can carry on that trend.
We do have a huge job on hand, however I feel we have a strong committee this year and I look forward to working with each and every one of them. I would like to extend my gratitude for welcoming me and the kind words of encouragement so far with a very special thanks to Lalitbhai who has been tirelessly working over the past few weeks.
The task in hand is to ensure that we engage the thriving younger generation of the Lohana community and don’t forget that this is our future without alienating those that have been part of the community for some time. We need to be sensitive to both generations in order to have a successful community program.
Over the coming months, the community will see a change in the way we do things without losing sight of what we are about. I am hopeful that the community will see the benefits over the course of time around the positive changes we are proposing to make.
The future is promising and I want to extend my hand to the community, you pay for the membership, I need to know your ideas of the changes you would like to see in the community. I am not saying that we can accept every idea but if there is a general consensus then the committee will be happy to discuss the viability. As you can imagine, with a limited budget, it is hard to do everything therefore it is really important that the message gets out about the Lohana Charitable Foundation and the positive efforts we are making to moving our community forward. Please help us to serve you better.
Please feel free to contact me directly, email is the preferred option as I am not always at home and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
With a new year comes a new committee and we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you. Please take a moment and browse through our biographies below to learn more about the 2010 LCF Committee. To read the bios, please click on the document below.
